The Panama Canal is often referred to as the “8th Wonder of the World.” The most common Panama Canal vacations are cruises originating in Florida and California. Traveling through the locks of the Panama Canal generally requires 10-14 days, originating on either coast, an incredible 40 mile shortcut between the Atlantic and the Pacific. Some longer cruises originate in Central or South America. You may do a “partial transit” for a shorter vacation, which will not take you through the locks. The history of the Panama Canal is well documented.
A small cruise ship vacation from San Jose in Costa Rica traveling through the Osa Peninsula to Coiba Island, transiting through the Panama Canal and resuming in the San Blas Islands, Colon and ending in Panama City with all-inclusive shore excursions is provided by Tauck Vacations.
