A vacation in France is among the most romantic and still historic vacations in all of Europe. Any vacation in France should include the capital of France, Paris, the City of Lights, where you may visit the magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral, the unique Louvre Museum, the commemorative Arc de Triumphe, Champs Elysees and, of course, the Eiffel Tower. But there is a lot more to see in France. Visit Auvre-Sur-Oise, the quaint little town where Vincent Van Gough lived and died, or Napoleon and Josephine’s Chateau de Malmaison. Visit Vernon to see Claud Monet’s house and the stunning gardens of Giverny and the Bizy Castle. Rouen is the capital of Upper Normandy, perhaps known for its connection to Joan of Arc. Tour the historic Normandy Landing Beaches, with such poignant sites as Omaha Beach. Down the Rhone River on your France vacation is France’s second largest city, Lyon. Survey the city from Fourviere Hill and explore Old Town, a Unesco World Heritage Site. A bit further south is Avignon, the “City of Popes,” dominated by the Palace of the Popes. Even further south is the capital of Provence, Arles, where you may visit the Roman Amphitheater, the church of St. Trophime. A vacation in France will have lasting memories for a lifetime.
