Vacations in Russia invariably start with either Moscow or St. Petersburg. The highlights of Moscow include Red Square, the Cathedral of St. Basil, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, the Kremlin Wall Necropolis and the Lenin Mausoleum. Evening events may include the famous Moscow Circus. From Moscow, travel to Vladimir, visiting the Uspensky Cathedral.
St. Petersburg is a bit east and further North from Moscow, and it is unquestionably the most visited city for tourists on a Russia vacation. Visit Peterhof, or, as it is known, Peter’s Court, the Grand Palace, the vast museum of lavish rooms and galleries and the Grand Cascade with its more than 140 fountains. Visit Catherine’s Palace, given by Peter the Great to his wife. No vacation including St. Petersburg would be complete without a visit to the State Hermitage Museum, the world’s largest art museum.
